How to interact with a blind? |
People should follow and take into consideration several important points when
they interact with blind people as follows:

Dealing with blind should be normally, avoid showing them
the feelings of pity, sorrow or compassion.

Don’t use words or terms that could possibly heart their
feelings such us, watch it, did you see, look….etc

Notify the blind of your presence whenever you enter or
leave his room.

Introduce yourself, your name, every time you talk to
blind.

Talk in a very normal tone never raises your voice!

Talk directly to blind person whenever you want to have a
conversation with him.

Never feel embarrassed to correct and guide a blind if he
misbehaved or make very weird movements.

If you have been asked to help blind person for a walk hold
his arm be in front of him. Avoid dragging him or pulling him.

Great a blind hand gently. Blind people sense the
friendship feelings towards him.
- Be aware of strengthening blind feelings of independency, i.e. let him
open the door by himself, close the door, have a seat. But your presence is
necessary for teaching and protection purposes.
- Explain to blind events that occur around him like, sounds. Inform him
with information on the place he is attending.
- Enrich and charge blind feelings with strength, confidence, and self
esteem. Show him that you trust him and you can count on his abilities.
- Remember that your positive attitude towards the blind has a great impact
among him.
- Slow down whenever you saw a blind with stick crossing the road to avoid
the confusion.
- Never mock or underestimate a blind in any place or in any condition.
- Notify him with any kind of surfaces he is walking on like alert him if he
is step on a rough surface, high step, elevator… etc.
- Never walk in rush or slowly whenever you accompany a blind for a walk.
